I have taught and am familiar with most piano teaching methods. Currently, I primarily use the John W. Schaum, John Thompson series, Toronto Conservatory of Music and coordinating Just the Facts theory books. These are all progressive books from beginner to advanced levels.
Students gain a comprehensive knowledge of music through progressive playing combined with piano and music theory. Along with the method books, I incorporate “popular” songs, including holiday, patriotic, classical and childhood favorites – often selected by each student. I encourage parents to take their children to a local music store so they can experience and explore the plethora of available music.

“My kids love to go to Jayne’s house for piano lessons. Jayne has an extensive background in music education and does a great job of teaching them how to play the piano. What’s really amazing is that she does it without imposing the extraordinary demands of serious competitions or super-strict practice schedules. Jayne keeps the process of learning to play the piano relaxed and fun, and that keeps my kids coming back for more. Jayne encourages kids not just to play the piano, but to enjoy it and to take pride in their progress.” – Andy M. – Plano, Texas
